# Join a community and sign in

Use your personal invitation, sign in with the right account and choose whether to participate.

## Before you start

You need an invitation for the community and access to the identity it was sent to. Use the link from that invitation. It is personal; forwarding it does not invite someone else.

Some communities optionally accept applications. If a request-to-join form is available, submit it and wait for the team’s decision and separate invitation. An application receipt or approval is not community membership.

## Open your invitation and sign in

1. Follow your invitation link.
2. If you are an active human member of this community’s Zentrik workspace, choose **Sign in with Zentrik** and use that account. You do not need customer SSO or an administrator grant to authenticate as a participant.
3. Otherwise, choose an enabled customer method. For customer SSO, choose **Continue with customer SSO** and sign in through your product’s login.
4. Use the account that received the invitation. Signing in with another identity can leave you unable to accept it.
5. Return to the community’s invitation page after sign-in.

SSO means single sign-on: the community trusts the configured product login to identify you. It does not give you access to the team’s internal Zentrik workspace.

Zentrik member sign-in checks that you still belong to this workspace. It preserves your invitation or private Study destination. It does not give you administrator rights, enroll you or add groups. If you also administer the portal, **View community** authenticates you as yourself on the member side, where your member permissions apply. Signing out of that member session stays local; it does not sign you out of Zentrik or the customer’s product.

Active members of this community’s Zentrik workspace can choose Zentrik without customer SSO. The personal invitation and consent still apply.

## Review participation and optional emails

Read the welcome and participation terms. If you want to join, select the participation checkbox. Then independently choose any emails you want:

- **Research invitations** for Studies and eligible reminders.
- **Announcements** for updates the team chooses to email.
- **Weekly digest** for an eligible roundup.

The choices start unchecked and email is optional. You can participate without selecting these emails. Select **Accept invitation** only when you agree to join under the displayed wording.

Your accepted consent and email choices are recorded separately. You can skip individual requests without losing your membership.

Participation acceptance and optional emails are independent choices. Sign-in alone does not enroll someone.

## Check that you joined

Look for your member home and accessible groups. Open **Your groups** and **Research** to see what is available to you. **What we learned** contains published updates for your audience.

If you still see **An invitation is needed**, you may be signed in but not enrolled. Reopen your own invitation and check the account identity. A public Study completion does not enroll you in the community either.

Continue with [Take part in your community](https://zentrik.ai/docs/product/engagement-participate). Use [Preferences](https://zentrik.ai/docs/product/engagement-preferences) whenever you want to change emails, pause them or leave.

## Troubleshooting

### The invitation is expired or unavailable

Ask the program administrator to check it and issue a new invitation when appropriate. Use your own current invitation rather than another person’s link.

### The invitation belongs to a different account

Use Switch account when offered, then authenticate as the invited person. If the email or account link is wrong, ask the administrator to correct it.

### I signed in but have no groups

Check invitation acceptance and ask the administrator to verify your current group membership. Sign-in and group eligibility are separate.
