The participant portal can now render flexible study steps, stack-rank questions, and legacy studies together while keeping answer progression predictable.

## What changed

- Use question steps with optional images and configured layouts
- Collect structured stack-rank answers with clear movement controls
- Keep older studies working while new step types are introduced

## More study formats without a new participant experience

Authors can combine images and questions in the layout that fits the study, while participants get predictable progression and the same review and submission path for legacy and newer studies.
